Music in 4-4 Time

This work uses high-flow acrylics and resists on watercolor paper. It's a quartet of 10" squares that can be hung vertically, horizontally, or in two rows of two. I wanted them to all work together yet retain their individuality. You can rotate these and hang them in any combination. A quartet of colors—soft greens, deep plums, golds, and accents of orange take turns dominating in each panel. I used resists to draw dynamic gestural lines and interesting stencil patterns that I could soften with washes. The understated feel of the resulting four-part piece belies all the cerebral planning that went into it. Like a well-choreographed four-part dance, it’s meant to look easy.

These images come as papers permanently mounted and sealed on four 12 x 12" cradled panels, which are included in the price. They are ready to hang as is or you can have them framed. Each painting can be hung with any side up, allowing you a vast variety of arrangements. (Be sure to click the right arrow to see just how versatile this foursome can be.)
